Fire Fighters or what they were called before being politically correct—-fireman—-are the constant heroes of our society.
They come to our rescue and save us while risking their lives. They do this every day and sometimes without the acknowledgment they so richly deserve. There are many many tales of heroic acts they have been involved in.
Many people owe thanks to them and to show appreciation we have decided to headline one particular story of firefighters in action.

A fire started in a large barn on a farm close to a farmers house. The county fire department was called to put out the fire. The fire was more than the county fire department could handle. Someone suggested that a nearby volunteer group be called. Despite some doubt that the volunteer outfit would be of any assistance, the call was made.
The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. Everyone could see that they were elderly men. They charged straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped! The volunteer elderly firemen jumped off the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the center of the fire, breaking the blaze into two easily-controlled parts. They then attacked these parts with renewed energy and conquered the fire.
Watching all this, the farmer and all the bystanders were struck with awe at these senior citizen volunteers.
The Farmer was so impressed with the volunteer fire department’s work and was so grateful that his farm had been spared, that right there on the spot he presented the volunteers with a check for $10,000.
A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain what the department planned to do with the funds.
“Well” The Captain responded, wiping ashes off his coat. “The first thing we’re gonna do is get the Damn Brakes fixed on our fire truck!”
